Description
Yunnan Pu-erh Black Tea is a wonderful introduction to Pu-erh (Puer) which is generally known for it’s strong and earthy tastes. This Yunnan Pu-erh brings forth a rich and smooth mouth taste unlike some of it’s stronger cousins. Pu-erhs are said to have medicinal qualities and are well regarded in China so give this a whirl and be patient as you explore. Many westerners like to enjoy with cream, milk and/or sugar.
When first learning the taste profiles of the various Pu-erhs steep with 200 degree (just before a full boil) water, pour a bit of water over your readied tea and let the leaves expand for 4 or 5 seconds. Dump the first liquor and refill your cup. Let your first cup steep for about 30 to 45 seconds and explore from there! Often I see instructions to steep Pu-erh leaves in boiling water from 3 to 5 minutes but I suggest you play around with this one.
