Ceylon Sonata Black Tea is simply a solid, flavorful and smooth tea. It brings forward the slightest hints of something sweet and citrus with a whisper of something floral. I accidentally over steeped my second cup of this and was delighted to find that it held up perfectly but it didn’t have the bitter qualities that many black teas of lesser quality will reveal if you overs steep them. Very little aftertaste even the over steeped version. This one doesn’t quite reach the heights of the Himalayan Mountain Tips black but this one is right up there. This may become your perfect everyday tea.
A little history lesson is appropriate here. The country of Ceylon is actually now called Sri Lanka so you may see teas being listed from Sri Lanka or Ceylon. Its the same place so don’t be confused. Our friends at the BBC have a nice article on the name change.
Small dark leaves bring forth a wonderful tea liquor. So with a combination of wonderful aroma, and taste this is a tea to be explored by tea adventurers.
